Herolds Bay Eco Resort is situated close to the small and intimate holiday village of Herolds Bay, 17 km outside George and about 6 km from the George Airport. The resort currently consists of two separate function venues, a guesthouse and offers a number of outdoor activities. Built on the farm Buffelsfontein, the resort has a sweeping view of the Indian Ocean with the silhouette of Mossel Bay in the background.
Down to Earth Venue
Our main function venue, with the appropriated name “Down To Earth” is build with clay, straw and timber and provides a rugged but stylish interior with high wooden ceilings and stained glass gables. It also has a huge wooden deck overlooking the rolling green landscape with the blue Indian Ocean in the background. Our catering is mostly traditional country style dishes but we can also accommodate your requirements. Our venue boasts its own wine cellar with a wide selection of handpicked South African wines. With a variety of yellow wood tables and blackwood chairs, the venue can accommodate up to 100 guests.
The Bush Lapa
The Bush Lapa, our second venue, is set in an African rustic theme, provides traditional food cooked on an open fire. The open-air setting is quite unique; one can sit around the fire, gaze at the stars, or have a captivating view of Mossel Bay in the distance. In the center, the stage provides the perfect setting for a host of local artists to display their musical talents. The menu includes oxtail and lamb potjies served with a variety of vegetable dishes or an authentic South African spitbraai. Add to it our ‘secret recipe' roosterkoek, salads and desserts, and you are guaranteed a quality culinary experience. Our bush bar, situated within the lapa, is a perfect spot to quench one's thirst. The Bush Lapa can easily accommodate up to 300 guests.
The Accommodation
The old family homestead was restored and changed into four private suites. Three of the suites have a separate bedroom and living room with a sleeper couch to sleep two additional persons. The honeymoon suite has a beautiful view of the ocean from the bedroom. Each unit has a private entrance and outdoor braai facilities are available. The interior consists mostly of blackwood furniture.

The Activities
The resort has a paint ball and golf driving range. We also offer zorbing, quad bike trips and archery for the more adventurous and a walking trial that will take you through a Blue Gum plantation, grasslands and fynbos areas. With only 3 km to Herolds Bay, the resort provides easy access to this picturesque beach. Herolds Bay Eco Resort is an ideal venue for any wedding, function, party, conference, team building or any other event. Alternatively, it provides an ideal weekend breakaway.
